Welcome to July everyone! It’s been a few months since I’ve posted an update on our net worth and goal progress, mostly because I’ve been working so much. The summer has been pleasantly busy for me so far, after the extended downtime I had during my sabbatical.
We’ve got a baby girl due on July 14th, which we are really excited about. I know that our finances this month will take a slight hit, but we’ve been saving in our HSA to offset those costs, so I’m not too worried about it. We’re just excited that she’s finally almost here! Our other kids (ages 5 and 3 now) are excited about her too, which is cool to see.
I’m still plugging away at my part-time consulting gig (hustle) as well as putting some WordPress websites together for a friend, so those have provided an awesome level of income that means we can eliminate our mortgage very soon!
June Financials In Review
June income was pretty good! Since my business earnings are not part of my budget this doesn’t quite show everything, but the difference is not really enough to matter.
June expenses were AWESOME! Well, mostly. We got a reimbursement for the travel expenses we paid for during my sabbatical (it’s reflected in the +462.97 under rainy day funds), which makes our expenses seem super-low, but averaged out over the year we’re doing pretty well here.
The Mortgage is dropping like a rock! We’re under the $10,000 mark, which feels like an accomplishment already, but that leaves us only 5 more payments and we’ll be done with the mortgage completely! Woohoo!

As always, my Income/Expense and Net Worth charts were created using my favorite personal finance software: YNAB. You can read my review of it here.
