Industrial revolution has led to the turning points in the history of civilization. Pre-industrial era that used to exist before the manufacturing epoch was characterized by the preferential value of agriculture while church and army represented the main institutes. However, it had to recede into the background when the industrial equipment went into production making the labor easier.

The motto of a new time became collocation ‘do-it-yourself’, and the mechanical facilities replaced those people who were responsible for the manufacture and the whole product cycle creation. Nevertheless, the modern scientists dedicated more and more time to the description of the pros and cons of the industrial revolution.

Anti-utopias were depicting industrial hell as the machines attacking vivid human existence. They talked of apocalypse started by the rude and ruthless power of capitalism that denigrated human soul.

In the meantime, technology changed our world for better and it is hard to argue with this statement. Everybody who wants to make housework and labor at the plants and factories more convenient is usually happy to get a responsive service for the sale or purchase of used industrial equipment for a variety of industries.

Yet, sometimes even scientists are not able to manage what they have created. So, there is a couple of stories how the artificial brain has almost taken power over the human forces.

Driveless car from New Jersey

Last year the quiet roads of New Jersey heard something they did not use to. A strange robot in a view of car invented in the company Nividia was too independent to belong to the category of machines.

This car is programmed in such a way to drive observing other people on the road. It is reported, the driveless car construction allows to direct the information from the sender union to a huge net of artificial neurons that proceed data and give orders. The latest are necessary to manage the rudder, brakes, and other car systems.

Still, some questions remain unanswered. For instance, what might happen in case the car is going to bump into the tree? The next interesting thing lies in the fact that such a machine does not explain its actions.

So, even engineers admit not having found out the way to make up a system with explanatory abilities.

How to predict illness with the help of IT

As well, the so-called smart machines have been applied to the wide base of data with the medical cards in New York. The program that was called as Deep Patient examined more than 700 thousand people trying to predict the possible illnesses. Surprisingly, it showed relatively good results and indicated the hidden sequences that marked the patient was going to contract numerous diseases, including cancer.

The creators of Deep Patient are assured this machine is quite good at prediction of the initial stages of mental distortions, such as schizophrenia. Nevertheless, it is hard to explain how logically approved such diagnosis could be. It is well-known that even doctors sometimes make mistakes trying to identify the mental disorders; the same could be said about the machine.

Instead of conclusion

The artificial intelligence is enormously interesting, yet, undiscovered topic. It provides humanity with great possibilities, however, we should take into consideration the drawbacks it could bring and be careful with the unmanageable power of technical machines. As well, we have to bear in mind that it depends only on personal inclinations if the achievement serves good or bad.
